On Thursday evening, April 24, we’re having a meeting to discuss the work of our new neighborhood emergency preparedness committees that are working in the following areas:
· Communications – The Water District has funded the initial upgrade of the radio systems used to communicate within the community as well as communicate to County Emergency Services.
· Fuel load reduction – Could the removal of dead and downed wood and the selective thinning of our forest cover ‘save our bacon’ in a real brush fire? If yes, what’s our plan/costs? How can we best work with surrounding property owners/parks?
· Survival kits – Should we supplement the water jug delivery with essential supply kits?
· Fire fighting - How can we and WFD use our lake, our one for sure survivable source of water, to better prepare for fire?
Our meeting will be at:
80 Joaquin Rd, 7:30 pm Thursday 4/24/08
This is a public meeting. All are enthusiastically encouraged to attend and contribute.
