Schedule and location of meetings: The Board elected to meet on the first Thursday of every month. Meetings will be at the home of Perry Blackmon, 25 Joaquin at 7:30 PM. The next meeting will be Feb. 2nd, 2006. Director Gage indicated a preference to not have the meetings at his home.
Election of Officers: David Smernoff was unanimously elected as the Board President.
Resolution Honoring Stan Gage: The Board unanimously passed a motion honoring the thousands of hours of service and dedication outgoing President Gage has given to the District and our community. His experience, relationships with local leaders, and historical knowledge of the District will be extremely valuable as we move forward. Please take a moment to thank Stan in your own way.
General Information:
* The Board began discussing ways to solicit community input and will continue this discussion at the next meeting. We encourage everyone to attend meetings and to contact Board members with your thoughts on any issues relevant to District business. The Board plans to discuss ways to quickly post unofficial minutes or notes from each meeting within several days of the meeting, on the Vista Verde website (www.vistaverdeca.org), via email to the Vista Verde Yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VistaVerdeLTW/) and on the Los Trancos Woods website (www.lostrancoswoods.org)
* Brush removal - The Board will be scheduling a community broom pull within the next several weeks, stay tuned for details.
* The Board began discussing near and longer term priorities. Important issues in the near term include following up with our LAFCo municipal services review and Grand Jury review. Mid-range priorities include; developing management practices for water district property, strengthening political support for the district, and exploring a full range of options for long-term protection of district property.
* The Board will be paying special attention to the constraints (legal, social, political, practical) and opportunities presented by ownership of property and local control of property tax revenue. We look forward to thoughtful and constructive input from all residents of the District.
