In addition to two incidents of car break-ins Tuesday night in the Alpine Hills area, there were four more from last night up in the Skyline area (aka "Skylonda"), specifically Skyline Dr. and Big Tree Way according to a friend who reports: four neighbors' cars were ransacked last night and purses were stolen out of two of the cars. Doors were left ajar and even trunks were opened and left open after being searched.
Please report these incidents to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office at 650-363-4911.
Reminder:
Lock your cars, homes, barns, and garages.
Remove all your valuables from your cars.
Turn on motion-sensor lights if you have them.
Tell your neighbors NOW.
If the robbery is in progress:
--Dial 911 from your landline phone or
--Dial 363-4911 from your cell phone, which connects directly to San Mateo Sheriff dispatch.
(Our area still does not get direct cell 911 service to local dispatch. Dialing 911 from your cell in our community will connect you with central dispatch in Vallejo, so it will take longer for your call to be routed to the proper sheriff's office.)

2/12/06 Update from San Mateo County Sheriff's Department
We have made an arrest of a possible suspect in the car thefts. Most of the thefts have been from unlocked vehicles so we need to get the word out to everyone to lock their cars and don't leave valuables in plain sight. We also have extra patrols out in target areas.
The suspect is still in custody and most of the thefts have stopped since his arrest so hopefully we have the right person but we are continuing extra patrols throughout the night.
The thefts are occurring Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights mostly in the Westridge area of Portola Valley. Nothing is happening on Friday thru Sunday nights so far.
