Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, March 19th, directional drilling followed by open trenching will take place on Ramona. This will necessitate closure of Ramona to all vehicles except large trucks and emergency vehicle; egress will be via Los Trancos Road only. This phase will take 2 to 2-1/2 weeks. Signage redirecting traffic will be put into place as per previous closures in the morning and taken down in the late afternoon. Ramona will be open after working hours and on weekends. At some point during this period, the ‘big damn hole’ will be filled in; Ramona will most likely be open to traffic for a couple of days when this happens.
Detail of work on Ramona: Directional drilling allows sewer pipe to be fed through to the trenches. 5 laterals, including 2 very deep ones, and 4 manholes will be put into place.
When might the whole sewer project end? Ballpark projection is by mid-April, around the 21st. More rain and altercations with unmarked utilities could cause further delays, however. Paving (the smooth, final stuff - hallelujah) will be done at the very end and may take up to 4 days.
Above is per my conversation with Keith Brown, who is on site daily, with West Bay Sanitary.
I’ll keep you posted. In the mean time, please drive safely and courteously.
